I’ve observed that some of the most beautiful things in life happen without any effort of our own. Take a chicken egg for example:
Last week our chickens, that we had purchased as chicks last fall, have started laying eggs. This was an exciting moment for us. It was different than the already-laying hens we had acquired earlier this winter. These were our very own hens that we had raised from babies who are now equally contributing to what they are receiving. And they did this all on their own! We went from 1-2 eggs every other day, from our already-laying hens, to about a 10-15 every days from our very own hens! And we didn’t even have to go into the coop and demand they start laying eggs. We didn’t shake them until an egg fell out. We didn’t sing to them or whoo them into giving us eggs. They just started producing eggs all on their own. Yes, we did feed them and give them shelter and water, but other than that we can take no credit for our very large egg supply.
