Spirit of Infirmity

10 Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way [a]raise herself up. 12 But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” 13 And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. – Luke 13:17In Jesus’ time many of the healings He performed included casting out demons and command “Spirit of Infirmity” to leave.
This past week our son James has been hunched over in stomach pain to point of screaming. He wasn’t even able to sit up or stand up straight. My sisters, Christine and Kellie, and my husband and I all prayed over him. He seemed better for a day but then was overwhelmed to tears with more stomach pain again the next day.
James has had chronic stomach pain his whole life but this past week was the worst it’s ever been – a “10” on the pain scale. While Kellie cleaned up after dinner and helped put kids down, Christine laid hands on him again last night. She felt a tingling in her hands as she commanded the “Spirit of Infirmity” to leave. Later that night Kyle too prayed against any demonic spirit that might have been on James. I put oils on his tummy and within a few seconds, he stopped screaming, told me his stomach was back at a “1” and then he laid down and fell asleep.
Later in the evening, Christine, Kellie, I sat in the upper room of the in-law suite praying together and confession our sins together as it says in James 5:13-16. “Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” – James 13-16
This morning James woke up with energy, an appetite, and wanting to color. After an intense week of sickness, we had our James back. Praise be to God! His way works!
